Often wipes get mixed in with other materials and as a result, the wipes turn into gray, stinky masses that clog our city plumbing facilities. This year alone, a 210-foot mass blocked a sewer in a southwestern English town called Sidmouth were a mixture of fat or grease and wipes congealed into a huge mass that eventually would take around eight weeks to clean up and dispose of properly.
One of the major issues is that wipe companies brand their wipes as “flushable.” Naive home-owners believe the manufacturer and don’t read the small print in the back, which warns consumers that flushing their wipes can cause a blockage.
